Ichigo Kurosaki: The main character of Bleach, red haired high school freshman Ichigo Kurosaki is enforced to become a alternate shinigami after innocently engrossing the majority of Rukia’s powers. His skeptical nature at first makes him ill-disposed towards the obligation, but after time he comes to accept it, recognizing that even if he is not capable to save everybody, he can at smallest amount use his ability to guard those close to him. He lives at home with his father Isshin and his two sisters Yuzu and Karin.

Inoue Orihimie: Orihime is one of Ichigo's close friends. She tends to be ditzy and accident prone, but is also cheerful and sweet. Her contact with Hollows and Ichigo's spiritual powers caused her own spiritual powers to awaken. Her power takes the form of six "fairies", who when not in use take the form of the hair clips Orihime wears. Her powers allow her to make shields, heal injuries and attack from a long distance.

Ishida Uryuu: IsIshida is the last of the Quincy, a group of people who used their spiritual powers to completely exterminate hollows. Because they did not send the hollows to heaven or hell, the Quincy were exterminated in order to keep a proper balance between the souls of Earth and Soul Society. Ishida hates the Shinigami in general and has an intense rivalry with Ichigo because of this.

Yasutora "Chad" Sado: Yasutora Sado, better known as Chad, is one of Ichigo's few friends at school. Despite his imposing appearance he is quite meek, and refuses to fight unless it is for the sake of another. He discovers he has a unique ability that strengthens and armors one of his arms, enabling him to fight hollows.

Rukia Kuchiki: Rukia is the first shinigami introduced in Bleach. During a difficult battle with a hallow she is forced to give her powers to Ichigo Kurosaki. She is thought to be one of the best skilled characters when it comes to things such as kido. She is said to have the most beautiful snow and ice type zanpakuto in Soul Society.

Urahara Kisuke: Urahara is the owner of the Urahara Shoten (Urahara Shop). He is very cheerful and appears to be a very laid-back person, although he can get serious whenever the situation warrants it. He also gives the feeling of mystery and elusiveness.He was the former captain of the Gotei 13’s 12th Division, and was also creator and head of the Shinigami Research Institute. After being sentenced to exile his positions were taken over by Mayuri Kurotsuchi.
